NAKIISA ang nasa 500 engineering students mula sa De La Salle University (DLSU) Manila sa PowerConvos, isang lecture series mula sa Meralco Power Academy (MPA) na naglalayong ihanda ang susunod na henerasyon ng mga energy professional sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng kaalaman sa career readiness at engineering excellence.
Pinangunahan ang nasabing talakayan ng Meralco leaders kabilang sina Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) President at CEO Emmanuel V. Rubio, Meralco Senior Vice President at Head of Networks Froilan J. Savet, Meralco Vice President at Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga, MPower Head of Strategic Account Management Pamela Santos, at MGEN Human Resource Head Eillen P. Lopez.
Ibinahagi ng mga opisyal ang kanilang pananaw sa nagbabagong estado ng energy industry at ang mga oportunidad para sa mga next generation ng mga engineer.
Bukod sa pagbibigay ng practical insight ukol sa transition mula sa silid-aralan patungo sa mundo ng pagtatrabaho, naging daan din ang PowerConvos upang magbahagi ng mahahalagang aral tulad ng katatagan (resilience), pagiging street-smart, at pagtatrabaho nang may passion.
Ayon kay Rubio, hindi lamang sa laki o pagiging kumplikado ng isang proyekto nasusukat ang tagumpay kundi sa epekto nito sa buhay ng tao.
” “You will have opportunities to build impressive things. But scale and complexity should not be the only measures of success. The deeper question is whether what you build improves people’s lives,” aniya.
Binigyang-diin naman ni Savet ang kahalagahan ng patuloy na pag-unlad ng distribution system ng kuryente ng kumpanya tulad ng pagpapatupad ng Advanced Metering Infrastructure at Smart Grid.

Ipinunto rin ni Zaldarriaga ang halaga ng pamumuno at pakikipagtalastasan sa industriya.
“Technical expertise is essential, but equally important is the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and remain committed to serving the public. These are qualities that help transform good engineers into impactful leaders,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa pamamagitan ng PowerConvos at pakikipagbalikat sa mga akademikong institusyon, patuloy na ginagampanan ng MPA ang papel nitong pagdugtungin ang edukasyon at industriya upang ihanda ang mga aspiring engineers na maging susunod na pinuno ng energy sector sa Pilipinas.
