ARESTADO ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Immigration sa Quezon City ang isang puganteng Amerikano, na wanted sa United States dahil sa 5 counts ng Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
Kinilala ang nadakip na dayuhan na si Jonatahan Michael James, 37.
Ayon sa BI, kinansela na ng US authorities ang pasaporte ni James kung kaya’t ikokonsidera na itong undocumented at undesirable alien sa ilalim ng Philippine laws.
“We have close coordination with foreign governments to ensure that foreign fugitives do not use our country to escape punishment for their crimes,” pagtitiyak ni BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco.
Ayon kay Tansingco, nadakip ng mga tauhan ng BI Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) noong Huwebes si James sa Barangay Krus na Ligas, Diliman, Quezon City.
Isinagawa ang search at arrest operation matapos ipaalam ng gobyerno ng US sa BI noong unang bahagi ng buwan na ito kaugnay sa krimen na kinasasangkutan nito.
“The fugitive is a subject of a warrant of arrest issued by the Davidson County, Sherrif’s Office, North Carolina, USA for five (5) counts of Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a minor, in violation of Section 14-190.17 of the North Carolina General Statutes,” saad pa Tansingco.
Dahil sa impormasyon at request ng gobyerno ng US, sinabi ng BI na naglabas si Commissioner Tansingco ng mission order upang mahagilap at maaresto ang naturang dayuhan.
Nakakulong na ngayon sa BI detention facility sa Taguig City habang inihahanda ang kanyang deportation. ARSENIO TAN
