Pahayag ni Ex-Speaker Alvarez na bawiin ng AFP suporta kay PBBM, iimbestigahan

IPINAG-UTOS ni Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla ang isang imbestigasyon kaugnay sa panagawan ni Davao del Norte 1^st District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na bawiin ang suporta kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“I have ordered an investigation on the statements of Congressman Pantaleon Alvarez to determine whether it has risen to the level of sedition, inciting to sedition, or even rebellion,” ayon kay Remulla.

“As a former lawmaker myself, I would like to remind Congressman Alvarez to act in accordance to the highest standards of ethics, morality and nationalism, and avoid remarks unbecoming of a member of the House of Representatives,” dagdag ng justice secretary.

Noong Linggo ng gabi, April 14, sinabi ni Alvarez na ang posisyon ni Marcos sa West Philippine Sea ay nagtutulak sa atin na makipag-giyera sa China. At ang giyera na iyon ang papatay sa lahat ng Filipino, lalo na ang mga sundalo.

Ilang eksperto naman ang nagsabi na ang paggiit sa karapatan ng bansa  sa West Philippine Sea ay hindi maaring mauwi sa giyera sa China.

“Our Constitution says the AFP shall protect the people and the state, not the president! If we allow the war to explode in the West Philippine Sea, there will be countless dead bodies and unimaginable destruction. Before that happens…I call on the Armed Forces of the Philippines to please withdraw your support to (sic) the chief executive…Bababa sa p’westo ‘yan,” sambit ni Alvarez.

Bilang nakaupong pangulo, si Marcos ang commander-in-chief ng armed forces.

Mabilis na pinagtibay ng militar ang katapatan nito kay Marcos. Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni AFP chief of staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. na malinaw ang mandato ng militar, na protektahan ang konstitusyon at sundin ang mga awtoridad na nararapat. Idinagdag ni Brawner, ikatlong hepe ng militar ni Marcos, na “susunod sila sa chain of command.”

May mga negatibong reaksyon naman ang ilan sa mga kasamahan ni Alvarez mula sa lower chamber sa mga sinabi ng dating house speaker. Sinabi ni Camiguin Representative Jurdin Jesus Romualdo na ang agarang pagtugon sa panawagan ni Alvarez ay ang pagsasampa ng reklamong kriminal. Samantala, sinabi ni Lanao del Norte Representative Khalid Dimaporo na maaaring maglunsad ng imbestigasyon ang House committee on ethics kay Alvarez

Ipinag-utos ni Remuula na imbestigahan ang naging pahayag ni Alvarez kung pasok ito bilang Sedition, Inciting to Sedition o maging Rebellion.
