Sa wakas, pagkalipas ng 16 taon, magiging pro league na ang Premier Volleyball League o PVL. Inanunsiyo ng Games and Amusement Board ang tungkol sa development na ito.
Kasama sa anunsiyong ito si PVL organizer Sports Vision president Ricky Palou. Kung saan kinumpirma ang inilatag na joint resolution sa pagitan ng pros at amateurs.
“With the support of the team owners, Sports Vision Management Group Inc has decided to professionalize the PVL,” ani Palou.
Ang PVL ay isang commercial at semi-pro league noon sapol pa noong 2004. Ito ay dating Shakey’s V-League na itinatag ng yumaong si Jun Bernadino.
Kung saan ang torneo ay kinapalolooban ng collegiate teams mula sa CESFI, NCAA ,UAAP at iba pang organisasyon.
Noong 2011, isinama rin ng liga ang corporate clubs at non-collegiate leagues.
“We felt it was in the best interest in the sport of volleyball,” dagdag ni Palou.
Ilang teams ang sumang-ayon bilang maging pro ay ang Creamline, Choco Mucho, Petro Gazz, BanKo Perlas at Motolite.
