LUBOS ang pasasalamat ni Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at mga mambabatas matapos maisama ang Immigration Modernization Bill sa mga priority bill ng pamahalan na inendorso ng Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council o LEDAC.
Sa ginanap na LEDAC meeting noong Setyembre 30, kinilala ang BI Modernization Act bilang isa sa 44 priority bills sa ilalim ng Common Legislative Agenda ng ika-20 Kongreso na isang mahalagang hakbang tungo sa reporma sa sistema ng imigrasyon sa bansa.
“We deeply appreciate the support of many lawmakers who recognize the importance of updating our 85-year-old immigration law. Their acknowledgment of this urgent need is a major step forward in modernizing the BI,” pahayag ni Viado.
Layunin ng LEDAC na tiyaking tugma ang mga prayoridad ng Kongreso sa repormang isinusulong ng Pangulo at sa mga patakarang nakatuon sa pambansang pag-unlad.
Binigyang-diin ng mga opisyal sa pulong na mahalagang maipasa ang modernisasyon ng BI upang mapahusay ang mga frontline services, mapalakas ang seguridad ng bansa, at mapabilis ang ligtas na paggalaw ng mga tao sa mga hangganan.
“We look forward to the passage of the modernization law, confident that it will strengthen our capacity to safeguard the nation and deliver efficient services,” ani Viado.
