MAYNILA – Hinirang ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana bilang susunod na pinuno ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), inanunsiyo ng Malacañang.
“The Palace confirms that LGEN Cirilito Sobejana will be the next Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” ayon kay presidential spokesperson Harry Roque sa isang pahayag.
“We are confident that General Sobejana will continue to modernize our military and undertake reform initiatives to make the Armed Forces truly professional in its mandate as the protector of the people and the State. We wish General Sobejana all the best in his new tour of duty as we pray for his success,” dagdag pa niya.
Papalitan ni Sobejana si Gen Gilbert Gapay, na nakatakdang magretiro sa Pebrero 4.
Si Sobejana ay ang kasalukuyang hepe ng Philippine Army at nakatanggap ng Medal of Valor.
Ang bagong napiling AFP chief ay miyembro ng Philippine Military Academy “Hinirang” Class of 1987.
