YORME ISKO NAGMATIGAS SA HUBAD FACE SHIELD (Malacañang sinuway)

Pinanindigan ni Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ang kanyang kautusan na hubarin na ang face shield sa kanilang lungsod.

Ito ang naging tugon ni Moreno sa panawagan ng Malacañang sa mga alkalde sa NCR na ipatupad ang face shield rule hanggang matapos ng Inter-Agency Task Force ang kanilang pag-aaral sa national policy.

“If they are not happy, they can go to court and ask for declaratory relief. I don’t want to teach them what to do, but we need to do what we have to do as mayors. We need to protect the interest of our people,” sambit ni Moreno sa panayam sa ANC.

Ayon kay Moreno, nasa kapangyarihan ng alkalde na magpatupad ng mga ordinansa para sa kapakanan ng kanilang nasasakupan.

“It’s very clear under Section 16 of the Local Government Code, the power is vested to the local chief executive with regard to the general welfare of our people,” wika ni Moreno.

“The President, he is a lawyer, he will agree — he used to be a mayor — he has no control over the mayor. He has that power of supervision under the Local Government Code,” aniya pa.

Imbes na ipatupad ang face shield policy, dapat buhusan ng pondo ng gobyerno ang pagbili sa medisina para tulungan gumaling ang COVID-19 patients tulad ng remdesivir at tocilizumab.

“What is important is tayo ay mag-mask, tayo ay magpabakuna,” dagdag niya.
