Dapat magtalaga si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ng bagong uupong Agriculture Secretary imbes na manatili sa posisyon bilang concurrently sa kabila ng kinakaharap na hamon ng sektor.
Sa kanyang column sa Manila Times, sinabi ni dating Cabinet Secretary Rigoberto Tiglao Jr na “very wrong move” kay Marcos na hawakan ang agriculture portfolio dahil sa demands ng presidency.
“I can’t understand why Marcos took the job of concurrent agriculture secretary (which no other president has done) when he really hasn’t any experience in managing a huge bureaucracy nor does he have any expertise in agricultural production. Hubris, that only he alone could do the job?” tanong niya.
Sa nakalap na impormasyon mula sa mga source sa Department of Agriculture, sinabi ni Taglao na ilang beses lamang bumisita si Marcos sa main office ng Department of Agriculture sa loob ng kanyang ika-100 araw sa puwesto.
“Contrast his single visit to the Agriculture department to the 18 ‘social and leisure’ activities (five birthday parties) he has attended in and outside the Palace In effect, rather than things ‘moving quickly’ for the Agriculture department, these have all stopped, leaderless,” ayon kay Tiglao.
