Kasama si Pangulo Ferdinand R Marcos Jr., na siya ring Commander-in Chief ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), ginanap ang joint acceptance, turnover ceremony at blessing ng mga bagong dating na land at air assets ng Philippine Air Force (PAF) noong ika-8 ng Nobyembre sa Floridablanca, Pampanga.
Kabilang sa mga dumalo sa pagtitipon ang Department of National Defense (DND) Officer in Charge JOSE C FAUSTINO JR; AFP Chief of Staff, LTGEN BARTOLOME VICENTE BACARRO; LTGEN CONNOR ANTHONY D CANLAS SR, PAF Commanding General; Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss; Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines Miguel Utray Delgado; at iba pang senior officers ng DND at AFP.
Pinangunahan ng pangulo ang tradisyonal na champagne pouring sa bagong dating na Ground Based Air Defense System (GBADS) at C-295 Medium Lift Aircraft.
Parte ng programa ang pagpapalabas ng isang audio-visual presentation na tumalakay sa modernisasyon ng Philippine Air Force Assets.
Layunin ng pagdaragdag ng Ground-Based Air Defense System sa land assets na higit na pahusayin ang military defense ng bansa. Inilarawan ito ni Ambassador Fluss bilang “the finest and most advanced air systems in the world.”
Isa lang ang maritime patrol sa benepisyong dulot ng pagdating ng C-295 aircraft sa bansa. May kakahayan din ang C-295 na magbigay ng airlift support sa panahon ng kalamidad at mga sakuna. Bukod pa rito, maaari rin itong maging daan para sa paghatid ng ating hukbo at kargo, surveillance at medical evacuation.
Isa sa mga pagbibigay diin ng ating pangulo para sa pagtitipon na ito, “Our reason for gathering is a significant stride to our ability to shield our territories from aerial threats of different kinds, whether from inside or outside of the country.”
