Nakompiska ng Bureau of Customs-Port of Zamboanga (BOC-POZ) ang tinatayang nasa P1 milyong halaga ng 30 kahon na ipinuslit na mga sigarilyo sa Jolo, Sulu.
Nitong Nobyembre 15, ikinasa ang mobile patrol operations ng BOC- Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) at Customs Intelligence and Investigation Services (CISS), katuwang ang Jolo Municipal Police Station, sa Kalayaan Street, Zone 3, Barangay Tulay kung saan narekober nila ang kontrabando.
Kinabukasan, dinala ang kahon-kahon na mga sigarilyo sa BOC Sub-port of Jolo para sa imbentaryo at kondemnasyon.
“The confiscation was in accordance with Section 117 of R.A. 10863, otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) of 2016, concerning Executive Order Number 245 entitled “Amended Rules and Regulations Governing the Exportation and Importation of Leaf Tobacco and Tobacco Products,” ayon sa inilabas na kalatas ng BOC.
Sa guidance ni BOC Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz at naayon sa utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr, na pigilan ang smuggling at pagpapatupad ng mahigpit na border control measures, patuloy ang BOC-POZ at ang sub-ports nito na ipatupad ang anti-smuggling operation at pakikipagtulungan sa law enforcement agencies.
