SMC PINAKABIT NA SECOND BATCH NG MGA TREN NG MRT-7

IKINABIT na kamakailan lang ng San Miguel Corporation (SMC) ang dalawa pang bagong Hyundai Rotem train sets sa 22 kilometro ng riles ng P68.2 Billion Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) project at inaasahang mag-o-operate sa susunod na taon.

Ito na ang ikawalang batch ng train sets, matapos dumating ang unang batch mula Korea noong nakaraang buwan. Inaasahan ng SMC na makatatanggap at makapag-i-install sila ng 6 sa kabuuang 36 train sets bago matapos ang 2021.

“Work continues non-stop on the MRT-7 project, so we can meet our target start of operations by end of 2022. I’m glad to report that we’re on track to meet all the key milestones we expect this year,” ayon kay SMC president Ramon S. Ang.

Dagdag niya: “Our ongoing MRT-7 project and other existing and planned mass transport systems should remain the backbone of mobility solutions in the city but we need to integrate these with other sustainable means of moving around to truly address the immediate concerns of the metropolis and best meet the needs of everybody.”

Katulad ng unang dumating na train sets noong Setyembre, ang bagong deliver ay ikinabit sa MRT-7 tracks sa pagitan ng University Avenue at Tandang Sora, nitong weekend.

Ang mass transit system, na pinondohan ng SMC bilang concessionaire, ay makapagsasakay ng libo-libong pasahero mula North Avenue sa Quezon City hanggang San Jose del Monte sa Bulacan.

“The process of unloading the trains from the ship, transporting them to the site, and placing them on the tracks is a meticulous process,” pahayag ni Ang.

“Safety of people and the trainsets are a priority. But I think we’ve gotten better at the process and look forward to more efficiently doing this as more trainsets arrive in the coming months,” dagdag niya.
