PH Karateka James De los Santos, puntirya ika-12 gold medal

Target ni former national team member James de los Santos ang ika-12 gold medal matapos Manalo sa Venice Cup 2020.

Nanalo ang Pinoy karateka via default laban kina Domont Matias Moreno ng Switzerland.

 “My opponent in the semis was Switzerland.”

 “He was feeling ill…it’s not COVID-19 which is good,” wika ng online karate sensation .

“I actually had the option to do a basic kata and then move straight to the championship round. But I still chose to perform a high kata. As they say in the 4th Dojo Kun (principles) of karate: Respect others,” aniya.

“This is my way of paying respect to my competitors.”

Sa kanyang pasaporte sa final, tinalo ni De Los Santos si Scott Taylor ng Canada, 23.9- 21.8 sa Round 16. Dinaig din nito si Kevin Petry ng Luxemburg, 22.4-22.9 sa quarterfinal.

Makahaharap nito sa final si Nejc Sternisa ng Slovenia. Kung saan, tinalo nito si Ruben Vinje Fajerland ng Norway sa semifinal, 24.4-24.2.
