COVID-19 vaccine trial mula Thailand, naging matagumpay

Hinihintay na lamang ng Chulalongkorn reseach team na aprubahan ng Food and Drug Administration ang human testing para sa posibleng COVID-19 vaccine mula Thailand.

Ito’y makaraang ibalita ng nasabing grupo ang pagiging tagumpay ng kanilang isinagawang vaccine trial sa mga unggoy. Tatanggap umano sila ng mga volunteers hanggang sa buwan ng Setyembre.

Ayon kay Prof. Kiat Ruxrungtham, director ng Chulalongkorn’s vaccine research center, ang Chula-COVID-19 ay isang mRNA vaccine na ginawa sa pamamagitan ng genetic material mula sa mga bagong strain ng coronavirus.

Sa oras na i-inject ang genetic materials na ito sa isang indibidwal ay magta-transform umano ito bilang isang protein na siyang mangunguna sa paggawa ng antibodies upang labanan ang virus.

Nabatid sa blood test results ng mga unggoy na nakatanggap ng Chula-COVID-19 ay tumaas ang immunity level mula sa sakit ngunit maaari raw na hindi maging pareho ang resulta nito kapag ibinigay na sa tao.

“Within the next week, we will select two vaccines which are slightly different in genetic parts to deliver to two production plants in foreign countries. The first plant will produce a vaccine biopsy, expected to be complete in early October. After that, we will ask the factory No. 2 to produce vaccine-coated fat parts around November 2020. Then we will proceed with injections in phase 1 and the next phases. We have prepared about 10,000 doses for the volunteers, for an estimated 5,000 people. If the test is successful, the vaccine would be ready for use in people around the third or fourth quarter of next year,” wika ni Kiat.
