4-DAY COMPRESSED WORK WEEK AT WORK FROM HOME, HINDI MANDATORY – TUCP

Pinaalalahanan ng Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) ang lahat ng business owners, employers at government na hindi mandatory ang 4-day compressed work week gayundin ang “Work From Home”, at hindi maaring pilitin ng pamahalaan ang private sector.

Dagdag pa ng TUCP, hindi dapat magkaroon ng pagbabawas ng sahod at benepisyo dahil ang lahat ng karapatan at pamantayan sa paggawa ay kailangan pa ring sundin kahit sa ilalim ng compressed work week.

“The proposed 4 -day compressed work week will require the consent of workers because it means setting aside the 8 hour work-day. Workers are supposed to have 8 hours of work, 8 hours of sleep, and 8 hours with their families.  Only workers can waive the right to an 8 hour workday. Workers must therefore be consulted regarding the compressed work week, workers will also have to voluntarily agree to the proposal, the agreement must be reduced to writing, and the agreement must be submitted to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to ensure monitoring and no management abuse,” saad ni TUCP President Raymond Mendoza.

Bagamat nagamit na ang scheme na ito, sinabi ni Mendoza na nahaharap sa stress, fatigue, at bawas-oras sa pamilya ang mga scheme na ito na maaaring hindi maganda sa kalusugan ng mga empleyado.

Ipinaalala naman ni Mendoza sa National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) at Department of Energy (DOE) na bagamat maaaring mabawasan ang konsumo ng produktong petrolyo hindi nito mapabababa ang presyo ng bilihin at serbisyo.

Ang NEDA at DOE ang nagtutulak ng 4-day workweek at work from home work-scheme.

Para bumaba ang presyo ng bilihin at serbisyo, sinabi ni Mendoza na ang dapat gawin ng DOE ay maglagay ng cap sa presyo ng produktong petrolyo mula sa Malampaya at geothermal resources ng bansa upang magmura ang kuryente.

Maaari rin umanong baguhin ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) ang price recovery ng Meralco at iba pang distribution utilities.
