Noong Nobyembre 2020, daan-daang Foodpanda delivery riders ang nagsagawa ng picket sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) sa Intramuros upang iprotesta ang dating polisiya ng kompanya na bawasan ang rate ng kanilang salary at benefits na kanilang matatanggap.
Ayon pa kay Estrella, umabot sa higit 400,000 ang bilang ng delivery at ridesharing motorcycle risers dahil sa paglaganap ng contactless mobile app transaction na nabuo dahil sa quarantine restriction.
“Many of these riders were workers from the formal sector unemployed by company shutdown and retrenchments resulting from the pandemic economic and health crisis,” sambit niya.
Ang Sakay Transport Cooperative ay isang cooperative organization na binubuo ng delivery at ridesharing riders at isang associate member ng Associated Labor Unions (ALU).
