Nagkaroon ng sigla sa kampo ng Gilas Pilipinas matapos luminaw ang naturalization ni Angelo Kouame. Pinayagan kasi ng House Committee on Justice ang House Bill 5951 para kanyang naturalization.
Kaya naman, maaari nang maglaro si Kouame sa national team. Lalo na sa iba’t onang FIBA sanctioned tournament sa 2021.
Labis namang nagagalak si Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio sa ginawang ito ng Kongreso.
“The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) extends its gratitude to the House Committee on Justice for their swift approval of House Bill 5951, the naturalization of Angelo Kouame,”aniya.
“We thank Congressman Robbie Puno for filing the bill and for being a constant ally of the Philippine basketball community.”
“The SBP also thanks Senator Sonny Angara for filing SB 1982, the counterpart of the bill for the Senate.”
Ang next step naman para sa naturalization process ni Kouame (tubong Ivory Coast) ay ang pag-apruba ng senado. Pagkatapos ay ang paglagda ni Pangulong Duterte sa approval.
Ang 6’10 na si Kouame ay kasalukuyang player ng Ateneo Blue Eagles sa UAAP.
