REHISTRO SA E-BIKE,  E-TRIKE TARGET NG MMDA, LTO (Nagdudulot ng aksidente, pagbagal ng trapiko)

SINIMULAN ng pag-usapan ng national government agencies at local government units (LGU) ang regulasyon sa paggamit ng e-bikes o iba pang hindi rehistradong electronic vehicles (e-vehicles) sa buong bansa.

Isinagawa ang pagpupulong sa headquarters ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA)  sa pagitan ng mga opisyal ng MMDA, Department of Transportation (DOTr), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), at traffic heads ng LGUs sa National Capital Region (NCR).

Sa naturang pagpupulong, sinabi ni MMDA acting chair Don Artes na nagiging “cause of concern” ang pagdami ng e-vechicles.

“Nakikita rin kasi namin na padami nang padami…parang exponential yung pagdami nitong e-bike,” ayon kay Artes.

“We met para nga po magkaroon ng regulasyon, para habang hindi pa ganoon kadami na nakaka-obstruct na ng traffic, na yung major accidents ang nako-cause niya, ay ma-address na namin kaagad,” dagdag pa ng opisyal.

Kaya target ng MMDA na maglatag ng regulasyon sa pagmamaneho ng mga e-trike at e-bike sa bansa.

Kasama na rito ang pagpaparehistro sa mga electric bicycles at electric tricycles.

Plano rin na obligahin na ang mga drayber nito na kumuha ng lisensya.

“When these e-vehicle users violate the law, how can we issue a traffic violation ticket if the users do not possess a license? We also cannot charge the vehicle owners because they are not registered,” saad niya.

Bukod sa dulot na panganib na maaring mangyari  sa driver, iba pang motorista, at pedestrian, aniya, ang mga e-vehicle ay nagpapabagal din sa daloy ng trapiko.

 “We are coordinating with the MMDA and LTO to apprehend these units that do not have franchises to operate as PUVs,” Guadiz said.

Ang naturang pagpupulong ay pinangunahan nina  Artes, Guadiz, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II, DOTr Undersecretary Jose Lim, and several other national and local government officials.
