Iginiit ni House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez na kailanman ay hindi kukunsintihin ng Kamara ang anumang uri ng katiwalian at pang-aabuso sa pamahalaan.
Ito ang pahayag ng lider ng Kamara kasunod ng panawagan ng mga negosyante at civil society groups na tuldukan ang korapsyon sa gitna ng kontrobersiya kaugnay ng mga flood control project.
“I welcome and respect the strong statement made by our partners in the business community and civil society calling for an end to corruption in government. Their concern echoes the very principles of transparency, accountability, and integrity that the House of Representatives has committed to uphold,” ani Romualdez.
Dagdag pa niya, malinaw na paninindigan ng Kamara na hindi nito palalampasin ang katiwalian, maging sa public works, lokal na pamahalaan, o anumang sektor ng serbisyo publiko.
Binigyang-diin ni Romualdez na dapat maimbestigahan nang husto at maresolba agad ang lahat ng alegasyon ng katiwalian.
“I fully support initiatives for independent scrutiny and fair prosecution to ensure that those who betray public trust are held accountable under the law,” aniya.
Kabilang din sa mga hakbang ng Kamara ang pagpapalakas ng transparency sa budget hearings at bicameral deliberations, na ngayon ay bukas na sa publiko at naipalalabas nang live sa social media.
Itinulak din ni Romualdez ang Budget Modernization Act, na layong gawing performance-based, cash-based, at results-oriented ang paggastos ng pamahalaan upang masiguro na ang bawat pisong nakalaan sa pambansang badyet ay nagagamit nang tama at responsable.
“Together, let us build a governance culture where every peso is protected, every project is transparent, and every public official is held to the highest standard of service,” giit pa ng House Speaker.
