Sasabak ang Gilas Pilipinas 8.0 sa last window ng 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers. Ito ay balak isagawa sa Doha, Qatar.Mismong kinumpirma ito Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP). Ito’y bunsod na rin ng announcement ng FIBA.
Kung saan, idaraos sa Qatar ang laro ng Group A games ng qualifiers. Unang pinanukala na sa Clark, Pampanga ang nasabing laro.
Subalit, ikinansela dahil sa ipinatupad na travel ban sa bansa.
Bukod sa Philippines, kabilang din sa Group A ang Indonesia, Thailand at South Korea.
Idaraos din sa Qatar ang Group B games. Unang itinakda ang laro sa Tokyo. Kabilang sa grupo ang Japan, Malaysia, Chinese-Taipei at China.
“We are thankful to FIBA and the Qatar Basketball Federation for all their efforts to make sure that the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers for Group A will push through,” ani SBP President Al Panlilio.
“We would have loved to host Groups A and C in Clark but things beyond our control made it necessary to adjust our plans and we thank everyone for their flexibility,” aniya.
