Palaisipan kay Ginebra Gin Kings head coach Tim Cone kung interesado pang maglaro sa PBA ang big man na si Greg Slaughter. Ayon kay Cone, kinausap niya ang binansagang ‘ Gregzilla’. Subalit, walang tugon dito ang Ginebra center.
“We tried to contact him a couple of times, he hasn’t responded. So we don’t know if he’s going to come back, but we know just like everybody else he’s working out,” pahayag ni Cone.
“The last we heard, he’s going to make a tryout with the NBA G League. I don’t know if that’s true, I heard that from a third party. But there’s no G League this year. G League will probably start maybe April next year,” dagdag nito.
Palagay ng coach, nawalan ng gana ang player na makipag-ugnayan pa sa Gin King matapos mapaso ang kontrata nito at hindi napagbigyan sa contract extension.
Kung hindi pa nila makukumbinsing maglaro si Slaughter, inaasahang magkakaroon contingency plan ang koponan upang punan ang mababakanteng posisyon nito.
“But we’ll find ways to replace him, maybe a little more Japeth (Aguilar), maybe a little bit more Stanley (Pringle), maybe Prince Caperal steps up, we have other options,” ani Cone.
“It’s gonna be tough because he can be a force at times and it’s just really tough having something ripped away from you like that without having being given anything in return,” dagdag pa ng coach.
