NAGLAGAY ng karagdagang Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras ang pamunuan ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) sa lahat ng international airport sa bansa upang masubaybayan ang mga pasahero at maiwasan ang korapsiyon sa loob ng mga paliparan.
Sa ipinadalang report kay Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, nilinaw ni BI Port Operations Acting Chief Grifton Medina, na mahigit isang daan na CCTV camera ang ikinabit sa Terminal 2 at 3 sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), at Clark International Airport (CIA).
Ayon kay Medina, gagana ang mga nasabing CCTV ng 24 oras kada araw sa lahat ng immigration counter sa arrival at departure areas ng apat na paliparan, kung saan lahat ang aktibidades at galaw ng tao ay mahahagip ng kamera at maire-record.
Dagdag pa ni Medina na papalitan din ang mga lumang CCTV sa NAIA Terminal 1 at maglalagay ng mga bagong camera para sa second phase ng proyekto.
Ikinatuwa naman ni Morente ang nasabing proyekto kasunod sa kautusan ng Pangulong Duterte na ma-monitor ang galaw ng mga pasahero sa loob ng mga airports.
“These CCTVs are effective deterrents against corruption as our officers will now be wary and discouraged to commit irregularities as all their actions will surely be caught on camera,” ayon sa BI Chief.
Ayon naman kay BI Acting Spokesman Melvin Mabulac, acting chief of the Bureau of Immigration National Operations Center (BINOC), na maglalagay din ng mga CCTV sa tanggapan ng BI satellite at extension offices sa SM North at Student Visa Section sa Quezon City; BI PEZA at SM Aura sa Taguig; at BI Makati.
