P35 TAAS-SAHOD MAY NEGATIBONG EPEKTO SA 140K WORKERS – NEDA

Para sa Natgional Economic and Development (NEDA), may negatibong epekto ang taas-sahod na P35 sa Metro Manila sa 40,000 hanggang 140,000 manggagawa.

Ayon kay Sec, Arsenio Balisacan, maaring mauwi sa pagsasara o pagbabawas ng tauhan ang mga maliit na mga negosyo – o micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) – dahil sa bagong minimum wage.

”It’s very negligible. It could increase the unemployment rate. But again, it’s a very negligible number and it could impact something like 40,000 to 140,000, depending on the region. But still again, not as big as one would expect if those rate adjustments were much higher,” dagdag pa niya.

Ani Balisacan, ang naturang wage adjustment ay hindi naman makakasama sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas.

”For so long as those wage adjustments are not too high to discourage investments, those adjustments are welcome,” ayon sa opisyal.

”And the data that we have seen is that as of March, April this year – those adjustments are simply adjusting to the level of inflation, and a little bit more so that the purchasing power of workers, wages, and salaries will not fall. And that should not worry the business community,” pagpapatuloy nito.

Inilabas ng National Wages and Productivity Commission ang desisyon noong Hulyo 1 at eepekto 15 araw matapos ang publikasyon.

Ayon sa Department of Labor and Employment, ang retail at service establishments na may hindi hihigit sa 10 manggagawa at enterprises na apektado ng mga kalamidad o human-induced disasters ay maaaring mag-apply sa Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board para sa exemption mula sa wage increase. Hindi naman sakop ng increase ang Barangay Micro Business Enterprises na tinukoy sa Republic Act No. 9178.
