MAG-INGAT SA SCAMMER – BI

Muling nagpaalala sa publiko ang Bureau of Immigration na maging maingat sa mga scammer na nagpapanggap na empleyado ng imigrasyon sa Facebook.

Nag-ugat ang paaalala mula sa isang reklamo ng isang Indian student na natanggap ng BI ngayong buwan kaugnay sa pekeng abogado na nagpakilalang immigration hearing officer.

“We conducted an investigation and saw that there were many similar complaints in the past about this fake lawyer that introduced herself as a certain Atty. Lisa Perez Tubban,” ani Morente. 

“She presented herself as a fixer than can process the application of these students,”.

 “We suspect she’s using a fake name, as she used the photo of one of our contractual employees as her profile picture,” bahagi pa ni Morente.

Napag-alaman sa BI na ang biktima ay isang babaeng kasalukuyang mag-aaral sa bansa, ay nagsimulang makipag-usap sa suspek nito lamang Pebrero ngayong taon, kasunod ng hindi pagkakasundo sa kanilang paaralan.

“Current rules authorize only school representatives to process applications in behalf of the students,” saad ng BI.

Dahil sa hindi pagkakasundo, naghanap ang biktima sa Facebook kung sino ang makatutulong sa kanya.

“The fake employee offered to process her application but requested pre-payment sent through online fund transfer. The complaint stated that the victim paid a total of P45,000 in several tranches, before the suspect stopped replying to her,” paliwanag ni Morente.

“These are all scams.  Immediately report to the authorities if you encounter any such attempts,” babala ni Morente.
