CHR tutol sa paggamit ng yantok vs pasaway sa health protocols

Pinaalalahanan ngayon ng Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ang pamahalaan kaugnay sa paggamit ng dahas para madisiplina ang mga pasaway na hindi sumusunod sa health protocols dahil pa rin sa Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Kasunod na rin ito ng naging pahayag ni PNP Chief Debold Sinas na gagamit ang PNP ng yantok sa pagpapatupad ng health protocol.

Ayon kay CHR Spokesperson Atty Jacqueline Ann de Guia, ang pandemic daw ay hindi peace and order isyu pero public health agenda.

Kinikilala raw ng CHR ang effort ng pamahalaan na ginagawa ang lahat ng paraan para hindi na kumalat ang nakamamatay gaya ng mahigpit na pagpapatupad sa mga health safety protocols pero paulit-ulit umanong igigiit ng CHR ang kahalagahan ng pagrespeto sa ating mga kababayan.

“As such, we wish to caution the government against unnecessary use of force and actions that may lead to humiliation and trauma. Violence, even in its slightest suggestion, is not the best way to address the pandemic. Rather, government should continue to employ information dissemination to make the people understand the hazards of going out in the midst of a pandemic, as well as implement programmes guided by the sound advice of science and health professionals. Government must equally invest and reinforce protection of health care workers who bear the brunt of curing an ailing population due to this virus,” ayon kay de Guia.

Nitong nakaraan lamang nang sabihin ni Task Force Covid Shield Commander Police Lt. Gen. Cesar Binag, na magde-deploy ang government task force on COVID-19 ng law enforcers para ipatuad ng health safeguards gaya ng physical distancing sa mga pampublikong lugar ngayong holiday season.

Gagamitan daw nila ng yantok o rattan stick para hampasin ang mga lumalabag sa health guidelines.
