VP SARA SINOPLA NG MAKABAYAN BLOC MATAPOS MAGPASAKLOLO SA SC (Para pigilan ang impeachment trial)

Kinondena ng Makabayan bloc sa Kongreso ang pagtatangkang pigilan ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang impeachment trial laban sa kanya sa pamamagitan ng paghiling ng temporary restraining order (TRO) mula sa Supreme Court (SC) at tinawag itong hayagang pagtakas sa pananagutan.

“The Vice President’s move to halt the impeachment trial through the Supreme Court is a clear indication of her refusal to face the charges against her at the appropriate venue. The appropriate venue is the impeachment court not the Supreme Court. By resorting to legal maneuvers, she is reinforcing a troubling pattern of avoiding accountability,” saad ni House Deputy Minority Leader at ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro.

Sabi naman ni Gabriela Women’s Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas, buking ngayon na hindi totoo ang pagyayabang ni VP sara na siya at ang kanyang defense team ay handa ng humarap sa impeachment trial.

“Whatever happened to her earlier statement welcoming the impeachment and preparing her defense team? It is evident now that she is backtracking on her words. Hindi lang ito tungkol sa kanyang pagtanggi sa accountability, kundi pati sa kanyang mga salita,”  pahayag ni Brosas.

Dismayado naman si Kabataan Party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel na hinaharang ni VP Duterte ang impeachment proceedings sa halip na gamitin itong pagkakataon para ipagtanggol ang kanyang sarili.

“The proper venue for raising objections and addressing concerns is within the impeachment court, not through premature legal actions. It is disappointing to see the Vice President attempting to hinder the process instead of embracing it as an opportunity to defend herself, as she claimed she was ready to do. She is deceiving and confusing the few supporters she has left,” ayon kay Manuel.

Hiniling ng Makabayan bloc sa Korte Suprema na tutulan ang anumang pagtatangkang hadlangan ang proseso na itinakda ng Konstitusyon at tiyakin na susundin ang tamang proseso. “Ang aming panawagan: Ituloy ang proseso ng impeachment at huwag hayaang hadlangan ito ng anumang legal na taktika. The Filipino people deserve transparency and answers from their leaders,” pagtatapos ng Makabayan bloc.
