Kapag ‘entrepreneur athletes’ ang pag-uusapan, hindi rin nagpahuli si SEA Games veteran at student pilot Maiquel “Mikee” Jawn Selga. Katunayan, sa kasagsagan ng community quarantine sa Davao, nagtayo rin siya ng sariling business.
Ang ‘Mikee’s Food Hub’, na sinimulan niya noong nakarang Mayo ay kalimitang Korean foods ang menu.
“It started out when we experienced the difficulty of access to food, especially during the ECQ period. Knowing that, I have some abled friends and family who can help me address the current situation,” pahayag ng 20-anyos at 2015 SEA Games wakeboard double bronze medalist na si Selga.
Aniya, nag-umpisa ang business, nagtitinda sila frozen foods ng kanyang ama na si Michael Anthony, isang architect.
“We kept the price as low as possible so everyone can have access to cheap food. Later, we thought of selling prepared food like Samgak Kimbap with the help of our Korean friend, Riye Park,” aniya.
“Our advantage is the authenticity and uniqueness of our Korean foods and snacks.”
Kabilang sa kanilang bestsellers ay Samgak Kimbap at Bulgogi Smash Burger at 500 burgers ang nabenta sa loob ng isang buwan.
“Ako ang gumagawa ng burger, ako rin ang cashier at in charge sa social media accounts, kung saan nagagamit niya ang natutunan sa Multimedia Arts learnings sa Malayan Colleges Mindanao.
Isa rin siyang pilot student sa St. Alexius College Flying School at nag-aaral kung papano magpalipad ng eroplano sa nakalipas na tatlong taon.
“Airline pilot po talaga ang dream ko,” dagdag niya.
