QC PINURI ANG SENADO SA PAG-APRUBA SA PANUKALANG BATAS NA IPANGALAN KAY FPJ ANG ROOSEVELT AVENUE

Pinuri ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Quezon City government ang Senado sa pagpasa nito sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ng panukalang batas na naglalayong palitan ang pangalan ng Roosevelt Avenue sa Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) Avenue, bilang pagkilala sa yumaong aktor na kinikilala bilang “King of Philippine movies.”

“We laud the Senate, under the leadership of Senate President Vicente Tito Sotto III, for passing this measure that will give recognition to the immense contribution of FPJ not only to our movie industry but to Filipino culture in general,” saad ni Mayor Joy Belmonte.

“We also consider it a big honor to have one of our city’s main arteries named after FPJ. After all, Quezon City is the city of stars and it is but fitting to name one of our major thoroughfares after the biggest star of them all,” dagdag niya.

Nabanggit din niya na sinisilip na ng city government ang muling pag-develop sa Frisco bilang place of interest at isang tourist destination ng siyudad.

Ang development ay naaayon din sa 1-million jobs program ng National Employement Recovery Strategy (NERS), na pinamumunuan ng Department of Labor and Employment at co-chaired ng Department of Trade and Industry at Department of Tourism.

Inaprubahan ng Senado, sa botong 22-0-1, ang House Bill No. 7499 na inisponsoran ni Senator Manny Pacquiao, na naglalayong palitan ang pangalan ng Roosevelt Avenue sa yumaong action king. Nag-abstain naman ang anak na babae ni FPJ na si Senator Grace Poe sa botohan upang maiwasan ang conflict of interest.
