MAGNINIYOG RAMDAM ANG EPEKTO NG TAG-TUYOT

Umapela ang national peasant group sa gobyerno na tulungan ang mga coconut farmer na inaasahang labis na apektado ng El Niño dry spell o tag-tuyot.

 “Coconut farmers expect reduced yield because of the expected prolonged heat from El Niño. This will further weaken their already low income due to the low price of copra,” ayon kay Danny Carranza, secretary general ng Kilusan Para sa Tunay na Repormang Agraryo at Katarungang Panlipunan (Katarungan).

Hiniling ni Carranza sa gobyerno na seryosohin ang kasalukuyang sitwasyon ng mga magniniyog at gawin ang kinakailangan na hakbang upang maibsan ang epekto ng El Niño.

“The low income due to the low price of copra has been there for years and this has caused untold misery for ordinary coconut farmers. This situation will not change due to global market conditions,”  giit niya.
