HUMAN TRAFFICKING MARERESOLBA KUNG TUTULONG LAHAT NG GOV’T AGENCIES – BI

IGINIIT ng pamunuan ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na maaalis lamang ang human trafficking at illegal recruitment sa bansa kung tutulong ang lahat ng sangay ng pamahalaan.

Ayon kay Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco, ang ugat ng problema ang dapat na masolusyunan upang masugpo ang mga nasabing iligal na gawain.

“Trafficking is not solely the burden of the BI, as we are only able to intercept victims when we encounter them in formal ports,” ayon kay Tansingco.

“But trafficking happens everywhere.  In the barangays, in cities, and now even online,” dagdag pa nito.

Sinabi ni Tansingco, ang BI ay isang ahensya sa ilalim ng Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking na ang gawain nito ay upang matumbok ang lahat ng aspeto ng human trafficking at illegal recruitment.

Sinagot din ni Tansingco ang pahayag ni Senator Risa Hontiveros na ang BI ay kinakailangan ng pagsasaayos kasunod ng ulat ng mga human trafficking.

“We respect the opinion of the good senator, but the BI has stepped up its efforts to combat this societal ill,” ayon sa BI Chief.

“In fact, we have recently implemented a major organizational overhaul following the deactivation of the BI’s port operations division (POD),” dagdag pa ng opisyal.

Ayon kay Tansingco, higit niyang sinusuportahan ang rekomendasyon ni Representative Camille Villar na magsagawa ng “legislative inquiry on illegal overseas job offers that shuttle Filipinos to work for companies that operate online scams”.

“I hope Congress and Senate look into this problem, particularly this recent trend of recruiting professionals who end up being subjected to corporal punishment by their recruiters,” ayon kay  Tansingco.

“This is a personal mission for me, to put into light the evils of trafficking, and allow all government agencies to address this serious problem,” dagdag pa niya. ARSENIO TAN
