FINANCE CHIEF RECTO PINANGUNAHAN ANG G-24 HIGH-LEVEL MEETING SA WASHINGTON

ISINUSULONG ni Finance Secretary at kasalukuyang Chair ng Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four (G-24) Board of Governors Ralph Recto ang mga pangunahing reporma upang i-empower ang International Monetary Fund (IMF) at World Bank Group (WBG) para sa mas maayos na pagsisilbi sa developing countries.

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng DOF na nagtaguyod si Recto ng apat na pangunahing reporma sa ginanap na high-level meeting ng mga minister at governors noong Oktubre 22 sa IMF headquarters sa Washington, D.C.

“We continue to call for a more agile and resolute IMF and World Bank. We need you to not only keep pace with the changing times but also lead with foresight and innovation,”  ani Recto.

“We need heightened development cooperation, scale-up support, and more responsive solutions to navigate the headwinds and foster peace, stability, and prosperity for all.”

Ang G-24 ay binuo noong 1971 kung saan tinutulungan nito ang developing countries sa kanilang international monetary and development finance issues, at matiyak na maisulong ang kanilang interes sa negosyasyon sa international monetary matters.

Ang Pilipinas naman ang nagsisilbing Chair ng G-24 mula 2023 hanggang 2024.
