DUTERTE PUMALAG SA PAG-ATAKE NG CHINA SA PH BOAT

Mariing kinondena ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang ginawang pagharang at pambobomba ng tubig ng tatlong China Coast Guard sa dalawang barko ng Pilipinas na magdadala sana ng supply ng pagkain sa mga sundalo sa Ayungin Shoal noong nakaraang Martes.

“We abhor the recent event in the Ayungin Shoal and view with grave concern other similar developments,” diin ni Duterte sa ASEAN-China special summit.

“This does not speak well of the relations between our nations and our partnership,” patuloy pa niya.

Binanggit din ni Duterte ang United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas at ang 2016 Arbitral Award sa Pilipinas na mahalagang ipatupad para magkaroon ng kaayusan sa South China Sea, lalo na sa West Philippine Sea.

“We must fully utilize these legal tools to ensure that the South China Sea remains a sea of peace, stability and prosperity,” giit ni Duterte.

Sa ilalim ng UNCLOS, ang karagatan na sakop ng 200 nautical miles ng territorial sea ng isang bansa ay maituturing na kanilang exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

Una rito, isiniwalat ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana na naglayag na patungong Ayungin Shoal nitong Lunes ang dalawang barko ng Pilipinas para magdala ng supply ng pagkain sa mga sundalong Filipino na nasa BRP Sierra Madre.

“The resupply ships left this morning- [from] Oyster Bay in Palawan and will reach Sierra Madre tomorrow morning. The Chinese Ambassador assured me they will not be impeded, pero pakiusap nila walang escort,” saad ni Lorenzana.
