PUMANAW na si dating military intelligence chief Victor Corpus sa edad na 79.
Kinumpirma ng kanyang pamangkin ang pagpanaw ng dating opisyal.
“It is with great sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of our uncle Victor Corpus,” saad ni Jennies Cruz sa Facebook.
“We would like to request our relatives and friends to join us in prayer, for the repose of the soul of our beloved and to ask God for comfort for the bereaved family. We value your prayers among anything else,” dagdag ni Cruz.
Nagsilbi si Corpus bilang hepe ng Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) noong panahon ng administrasyon ni Gloria Arroyo, at nakilala dahil sa kanyang pagtalikod sa Communist Party of the Philippines tatlong taon ang lumipas bago makapagtapos mula sa Philippine Military Academy noong 1967.
Iniwan niya ang communist movement noong 1976 at nanatili sa military prison hanggang sa mapalaya siya matapos mapatalsik si Ferdinand E. Marcos sa pamamagitan ng 1986 People Power Revolution. Ginawaran siya ng clemency ng noo’y pangulo na si Corazon Aquino at itinalaga sa AFP noong 1987.
