BI SA PUBLIKO: ETRAVEL REGISTRATION LIBRE

NAGBABALA ang Bureau of Immigration (BI) sa traveling public laban sa mga scammers na nag-o-operate ng websites na nagpapabayad at nangongolekta ng pera bilang kabayaran sa pagrerehistro sa government’s electronic travel declaration system o kilala bilang eTravel.

Sa isang pahayag, iginiit ni Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco na ang registration sa eTravel platform ay libre at walang bayad, kaya dapat na maging maingat sa mga unscrupulous elements na naninigil via fake websites.

“The eTravel registration process is absolutely free of charge. We, therefore, advise the traveling public to register only in the government’s official website at https://etravel.gov.ph.,” sabi ni Tansingco.

Hinikayat nito ang publiko na maging maingat sa fraudulent websites o entities na nanghihingi ng online payment at i-report ito sa cybercrime investigation and coordinating center (CICC) sa website nito na https://cicc.gov.ph/report/.

Ang hepe ng BI ay naglabas ng babala kasunod ng mga ulat na may mga pasahero na nagsabing nagrehistro na sila sa eTravel platform at “nagbayad” ng umanoy kabayaran sa pagrehistro.

Kadalasan ay US dollars ang kanilang binabayad katumbas ng halaga na kinolekta sa kanila ay sa pagitan ng P3,000 – P5,000, kapag kinombert sa peso.

Ang BI officers sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) ay nag-report na may mga pangyayari kung saan ang mga pasahero ay nasorpresa na sila ay dapat na mag register sa eTravel dahil ang digital QR code na kanilang prinisinta ay di ma-accessed ng system.

“It is only when they encounter our officers at the airport that these passengers would realize they have been duped by these fraudsters and scammers in the internet,” sabi Tansingco.

Ang eTravel ay inilunsad ngayong unang bahagi ng taon upang maging single data collection platform sa mga arriving at departing passengers. Ito ay nag-established ng integrated border control, health surveillance, and economic data analysis.

Ito ay joint project ng agency kasama ang Department of Tourism (DOT), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), the Bureau of Customs (BOC), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Department of Justice (DOJ) at the National Privacy Commission (NPC).

Sa proyektong ito, nawala ang paper-based arrival at departure cards, pati na ang quarantine form. Ito ay napuri dahil nabawasan nito ang paper-based requirements sa mga biyahero, na gumagamit ng parehong sistema na ginagamit ng ibang modernong bansa.
