BFP-QCFD IREPORMA – MAYOR JOY BELMONTE

NANAWAGAN si Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte na isailalim sa reporma ang Bureau of Fire Protection-Quezon City Fire District.

Ito ang inihayag ni Belmonte kasunod ng naging resulta ng kanilang naging imbestigasyon sa performances ng nasabing hanay.

Batay kasi sa ikinasang pagsisiyasat ng city government, lumalabas na may mga lapses o pagkukulang ang Quezon City Fire District pagdating sa pagtupad nito sa kanilang tungkulin tulad ng lax inspection, mga backlog sa examination businesses nito, at iba pa.

“The BFP should look into how the BFP-QCFD fulfilled its mandate in the light of tragic loss of lives and properties due to recent fires in the city. Were the BFP-QCFD leadership remiss in their duties? They should hold their personnel accountable if proven guilty of inefficiency,” saad niya.

Base sa datos na inilabas mismo ng BFP, nasa 153 na mga sunog ang naitala sa QC mula noong Enero hanggang Agosto 2023 mas mataas ito kumpara sa 219 na mga insidenteng naitala sa buong 2022.

Mula sa naturang mga insidente noong Agosto 2023, nasa 63 sibilyan, at 8 bumbero ang nasaktan na mas mataas kumpara sa 60 sibilyan at 2 bumberong napaulat na nasugatan noong nakalipas na taon.

Nasa 24 ang nasawi sa loob pa lamang ng walong buwan ng taong 2023, habang 30 naman naitalang namatay noon sa buong taon ng 2022.

“The capability and effectiveness of the BFP-QCFD in responding to these fires have lessened significantly. The city government recognizes that each fire has its own distinct volatile circumstances. Nonetheless, the severity of this year’s incidents necessitates a call for a change in the leadership of the agency. A change is needed for the welfare of our citizens. We look forward to a better performance from the BFP,” dagdag pa ni Belmonte.
