PATAY ang hepe ng Registration Section ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) Central Office sa nangyaring ambush sa Quezon City noong Biyernes ng gabi.
Sa kanyang statement, sinabi ni LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza na ikinalulungkot nila ang nangyaring pagpatay kay Mercedita Guttierez na naganap dakong alas-6:30 ng gabi sa panulukan ng K-H Street at Kamias Street sa Barangay Pinyahan.
“This is a cowardly act and we assure her family and the public of our untiring efforts to coordinate with the Philippine National Police and closely monitor the investigation of this incident to bring all the perpetrators of this crime behind bars,” ani Mendoza.
Bumuo na rin si Police Brig. Gen. Rederico Maranan, director ng Quezon City Police District (QCPD) ng special investigation task group na tututok sa kaso ni Gutierrez.
Nabatid na nakasakay sa van si Gutierrez nang paputukan ng gunman. Sumalpok ang van sa truck matapos ang pamamaril. Nakilala ang biktima dahil sa identification card na narekober sa loob ng kanyang sasakyan. Idineklarang pumanaw si Gutierrez sa East Avenue Medical Center.
“The entire Land Transportation Office (LTO) family condemns in the strongest terms the killing of one of our own in a gun attack in Quezon City on Friday, May 24,” ani ni Mendoza.
“On behalf of the men and women of the LTO, I extend my sincerest condolences to her loved ones, and likewise join them in seeking justice for this dastardly act,” dagdag pa niya.
