Uninterrupted service sa international travelers sa int’l ports, tiniyak ng BI

Tiniyak ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) sa mga bumibiyaheng publiko na tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang kanilang serbisyo matapos nitong sabihin na walang reduction sa work schedule ng kanilang mga manpower na naka-deploy sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at iba pang pantalan sa kabila ng muling pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa.

 “There will be no diminution in the duty days of our port personnel as we are duty-bound to ensure that all international travelers who enter and exit our borders get the most efficient and hassle-free immigration service from our officers,” ayon kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente.

Inihayag niya na inatasan na kanyang inatasan si Atty. Carlos Capulong, BI acting port operations division (POD) chief, na panatilihin ang kasalukuyang work scheme at schedule ng mga immigration personnel na nakatalaga sa mga airport.

 “In the past several weeks we have seen a steady increase in the volume of international passengers entering and exiting our airports, thus it would only be prudent to keep our current manpower to ensure smooth and seamless service to the traveling public,” dagdag ng BI chief.

Gayunpaman, binigyang-diin ni Morente ang pangangailangan para sa lahat ng tauhan ng BI port na mahigpit na sumunod sa mga nakasaad na health protocols at magsuot ng personal protective equipment (PPE) habang naka-duty upang maprotektahan ang kanilang sarili laban sa bagong variant ng Omicron na mabilis na kumakalat sa Metro Manila at iba pang rehiyon ng bansa.

Sinabi ni Capulong na sa ilalim ng mga naunang resolusyon na ipinasa ng Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), ang mga tauhan ng gobyerno na nagtatrabaho sa mga border control operations tulad ng mga opisyal ng BI ay pinapayagang mag-operate nang full capacity.

“The BI has just procured and distributed new PPEs for its frontline officers at the airports which should wear while on duty at the immigration officers and when clearing special flights at the airport’s remote parking areas,” ayon kay Capulong.

Una rito, inanunsiyo ng BI na ipatutupad nito ang 60% on-site wirk capacity mula Enero 3 hanggang 15 sa pangunahing gusali nito sa Intramuros, Manila at iba pang satellite, field at extension offices sa kalakhang lungsod.

Sinabi ng kawanihan na ang hakbang ay bilang pagsunod sa inaprubahang rekomendasyon ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) na ilagay ang National Capital Region (NCR) sa Alert Level 3.
