TULOG NA PONDO NG PHILHEALTH IPAMPATAYO NG MGA OSPITAL

IMINUNGKAHI ni House Committee on Health Vice Chairman at AnaKalusugan partylist Rep. Ray Reyes na ang paggamit ng bilyon-bilyong natutulog na pondo ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) sa pagpapagawa ng mga bagong pagamutan at health centers sa iba’t-ibang panig ng bansa.

Ang hirit ng neophyte pro-health advocate lawmaker ay kanyang ginawa makaraang aprubahan ng House Committee on Appropriations ang House Bill 9513 na nagbibigay pahintulot sa national government na gamitin ang excess revenues ng Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCC) para mapondohan ang tinatawag na ‘unprogrammed funds’ sa ilalim ng General Appropriations Act (GAA).

“We are proposing to realign what is given to Philhealth to be returned for the construction of much needed hospitals at nang hindi sa mga malalaking bonuses ng kanilang executives napupunta ang pondo na para sa ating healthcare system,” giit ni Reyes.

“Based on their guidelines, dapat mga P200 billion lang ang reserve nila. Right now, they are at more than P400 billion. Imagine how many hospitals at health centers magagawa sa 200 billion,” pagsisiwalat naman ng AnaKalusugan partylist solon.

Ayon kay Reyes, pinag-aaralan din niya kung ang excess budget ng naturang health insurance institution ay maaaring magamit para sa pagkuha ng mga bagong medical professionals o kaya’y para itaas ang antas ng sahod ng government medical personnel upang makahimok na pumasok sa public health services.

“I think we all can agree na mas deserve ng ating mga healthcare workers ang umento sa sahod at benepisyo,” sabi pa ng mambabatas.

“We cannot afford to scrape or scramble for crumbs left by brain drain when the country is hit by the next pandemic,” pagtatapos ni Reyes.
