NAGLAAN ang San Miguel Corp ng P1 bilyon para sa Pasig River clean-up effort nito na nakatakdang simulan bago matapos ang Mayo.
Ito’y upang muling buhayin ang naturang ilog na sumasagisag sa urban pollution.
Katuwang ng clean-up ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources at layon matanggal ang 50,000 metric tons ng basura kada buwan, na aabot sa 600,000 metric tons kada taon.
“We are taking decisive action to clean up our major river systems to balance the needs of our economy and the environment towards a viable and sustainable path forward, “ ayon kay SMC president Ramon Ang.
Noong 2020, naglaan din ang kompanya ng P1 bilyon para linisin ang 27-kilometro na Tullahan-Tinajeros River na sumasaklaw sa mga bahaing lugar sa Quezon City, Malabon at Navotas.
“Like traffic, congestion, and smog, pollution of our bodies of water is one of the many issues that have made life difficult and less than ideal for all of us these past couple of decades. While many of us may not immediately notice it, we are paying a big price for these compounding problems. Our advocacy is to take action and undo some of the damage and rescue and rehabilitate our rivers,” wika ni Ang.
