Upang matiyak ang transparency at pagiging lehitimo ng kanilang operasyon, sinimulan na ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang paggamit ng body worn cameras ngayong Biyernes.
Ayon kay PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar, ang unang kabuuang 2,696 body cam ay naipamahagi na sa 171 police station.
Magisilbi aniya ito bilang ‘tainga at mata’ ng law enforcer sa kanilang operasyon.
“My obligation now is to see to it that these body cameras are properly used as part of the commitment to honor the men and women of PNP who made this possible,” ayon kay Eleazar.
Sa National Capital Region Police Office, limang police district at 15 city police station ay magkakaroon din ng mga body-worn camera.
Dagdag ni Eleazar, kailangan ng 33,000 hanggang 34,000 body-worn camera para mabigyan lahat ng mga police unit sa bansa.
Sa pamamagitan aniya ng body-worn camera system, mamo-monitor ng PNP Command Center ang mga aktuwal na operasyon ng kapulisan nationwide. “My obligation now is to see to it that these body cameras are properly used as part of the commitment to honor the men and women of PNP who made this possible,” ayon kay Eleazar.
