The first day of online class, parents and students saw and felt where it’s going. Maraming mga challenges at marami din potentials.
Many parents have succeeded in establishing the learning environment for their kids– nag-effort talaga ang parents to make sure na may gadget, internet connection, may module and working space for their children.
But there is a need for parents to closely monitor the online class and needs to be creative to coax or inspire their kids to maintain focus especially kung medyo pagod na sa kaka-online.
I also commend the teachers to make the online class work despite of the many real challenges in them and in the system. Teachers need help to keep them going and fulfil their noble mandate inspite of the odds posed by the pandemic.
I also saw two TV stations broadcasting teachers on different subjects for public schools. Hindi ko lang alam kung nakakasabay ang mga estudyante manood ng lesson demonstrations. Sumasayaw, kumakanta at nag-e-effort ang iba’t-ibang subject teachers to explain their lessons.
Since nasa control and supervision ng mga magulang ang mga bata during online class, napaka-importante ang papel ng mga parents in this new mode of learning.
Parents need to be patient. They need to know how the online process works. They need to supervise and monitor their kids. They also need to know how to coordinate with the teachers kung may mga issues and problems arising in online class. O ano mga parents, kaya pa?
