Isang task force ang bubuuin ni Education Secretary Sonny Angara upang tugunan ang poor performance ng mga estudyanteng Pinoy sa Programme for International Student Assessment o PISA.
Kasunod ng direktiba ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. sa departamento na pahusayin ang rankings ng mga estudyante sa international assessments, sinabi ni Angara na, “One of our recommendations is that we put up a task force for the PISA exams specifically.”
“We need to modify local conditions to be able to perform better at these exams,” dagdag pa niya sa Post-SONA Discussions.
Sinabi ni Angara na babaguhin ng DepEd ang paraan ng pagtuturo para ma-approximate ang isang mas problem-solving approach.
“The President mentioned developing critical thinkers so it’s really the ability to make use of significant concepts going forward,” saad niya.
“And, of course, the President also mentioned that we need to harness new technologies so we need our students to be technologically-savvy and, at the same time, across the Philippines we need to provide better inputs for our students.”
Nauna nang lumabas sa datos ng PISA na muling napabilang ang Pilipinas sa mga bansang may pinakamababang scores sa reading, mathematics at science mula sa 81 bansa.
