PAGPAPALAYA SA POLITICAL PRISONER GIIT NI CARDINAL DAVID

NAGSAGAWA ng Misa sa loob ng Camp Bagong Diwa sa Bicutan si Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, Bishop ng Kalookan, kung saan sinabi nito na dapat palayain ang lahat ng mga political prisoner.

“I will consider it a wonderful gesture on the part of the government if at the start of the Jubilee year of hope 2025, the last remaining political prisoners still languishing in jail after several decades of waiting for trial are granted amnesty, pardon or outright release for humanitarian reasons,” ani David.

Dagdag ni David dapat magkaroon ng batas na nagbibigay-kompensasyon sa mga presyo na napatunayang inosente pagkatapos ng paglilitis.
  “The shockingly inhumane situation of PDLs in our congested jails is something that calls for urgent attention,” ayon kay David.

Lumalabas sa datos na nakalap ng Agila ng Bayan, na naglalaro sa apat na taon ang hinihintay ng political prisoner bago sila makakuha ng desisyon ng korte, habang ang iba ay naghihintay ng mahigit dalawang dekada bago makakuha ng hatol.

“I was surprised to hear that five prisoners who waited for 21 years for their cases to be finally decided in court were judged to be innocent of the charges against them, and were finally released!” ayon kay David.
Sinabi rin ni David na umaasa siya ng mapayapang solusyon sa communist insurgency.
