Nakasagwan ang PADS Adaptive Dragon Boat team ng Cebu ng 4 gold medal haul sa Sarasota, Florida. Nasagwan nila ito sa 13th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) Club Crew Championships.
Ito ang unang IDBF club crew world championship sa paradragon category. Nakuha ng 24-person team ang kanilang first gold sa first competition day noong July 19. Kung saan, naugusan nila ang home bets Para United Sarasota ng 1:26 sa 2,000-meter race sa SB (small boat); PD (Paradragon)-2 Open Category.
Nagdagdag sila ng 2 pang golds noong July 21. Kabilang ang dragot boat crew na kinabibilangan ng PWD athletes. Dinomina nila ang 200-meter race ng PD-1 at PD-2 categories. Ang huling ginto ay nasagwan nila noong July 23 nang maghari sa 500-m PD-2 small boat event.
“It was an emotional race.The paradragons were in tears when they crossed the finish line,” ani team manager JP Maunes sa Spin.ph.
“No words can express how happy we are right now. Nagbunga talaga ang mga sakripisyo and pinaghirapan ng team. We have prepared for this world championship event for the last two years,” dagdag nito.
