P1.8B UNAUTHORIZED BANK ACCOUNTS NG AFP, NASILIP NG COA

Nasilip ng Commission on Audit (COA) ang armed Forced of the Philippines (AFP) dahil sa unauthorized bank accounts nito na naglalaman ng mahigit sa P1.8 bilyon.

Sa audit report para sa 2020, sinabi ng COA na P1.8 bilyon ay hinati sa 20 bank accounts at idineposito sa iba’t ibang bangko, kabilang ang Land Bank of the Philippines, Development Bank of the Philippines, at United Coconut Planters Bank.

Ayon pa sa auditing commission, pinanatili ng AFP ang mga nasabing account kahit walang permiso mula sa Permanent Committee.

Narito ang breakdown ng mga account at kanilang balances:

•        P1,346,059,600.33 billion sa tatlong bank accounts sa ilalim ng AFP Modernization Act Trust Fund-Central Office

•        P347,483,190.39 million sa walong bank accounts sa ilalim ng AFP Educational Benefit System Office

•        P84,362,300.55 million sa dalawang bank accounts sa ilalim ng AFP Real Estate Office

•        P37,744,283.45 million sa pitong bank accounts sa ilalim ng General Headquarters Central Office

Ang AFP Modernization Act Trust Fund na pinangasiwaan ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana ang may pinakamataas na natitirang balanse mula sa mga unauthorized bank accounts.

Sa isang statement, sinabi ng Department of National Defense (DND) na nasa proseso na sila ng pagpapasara sa mga nasabing bank account.

“The DND-AFP has been processing the closure of these accounts in adherence to the COA guidelines. However, some accounts cannot be closed outright as these are the depository accounts for our current projects, most of which are multi-year obligations,” saad ng DND.

Samantala, sinita rin ng COA ang AFP dahil sa hindi nito nagamit na COVID-19 funds.

Mula sa kabuuang P357,871,353.46 million na pandemic funds, P133,153,963.62 million lamang ang nagamit.
