Sumalang si heavyweight boxing champ Oleksandr Usyk sa defence battalion ng Ukraine. Ito ay bilang suporta niya laban Russian Invasion.
Mismong ang 35-anyos na former olympic gold medalist ang nagkupirma nito. Nagpost din ang boxer ng ilang videos sa Instagram. Na ipinaabot kay Russian president Vladimir Putin.
“You can stop this war,” Usyk said.
“Please just sit down and negotiate it with us without claims,” aniya.
“Our kids, wives, grannies are hiding in the basements. We are here in our own country, we cannot do it any other way. We are defending. Stop this war, stop it. No war.”
Noong September 2021, nadaig nito sa Anthony Joshua ng Britain via unanimous decision. Dahilan upang i-unify ang WBA, WBO, IFB at IBO heavyweight titles. Inaasahan namang ikakasa ang rematch nila sa May o sa June 2022.
