Pinangunahan ni Tokyo Olympics veteran Chris Nievarez ang paghakot ng medalya sa Asian Rowing Virtual Indoor Championships. Kumamig ang team ng 6 na silver at 2 bronze sa torneo.
Nagtala si Nievarez ng 6 minutes at 25.90 seconds upang kamigin ang silver medal sa men’s under-23, 2,000-meter event. Kung saan ay nakatunggalin niya ang 15 participants. Nagwagi naman sa event si Ho Yin Wong ng Hong Kong.
Nagwagi rin ng silver medal si Kristine Paraon, 19 sa 8-athlete women’s under-23 500 meter at 2,000-meter events. Wagi rin ng silver si Zuriel Sumintac sa men’s lightweight 500-meters. Gayundin si Ateneo rowers Joachim de Jesus (under-23 500 meters) at Alyssa Go sa women’s lightweight.
Sina Christian Joseph Jasmin (men’s lightweight 2000 meters) at Kharl Julianne Sha (women’s lightweight under-23 500 meters) ang kumana ng bronze medals.
“We are very satisfied with the performance of our rowers that despite the Covid-19 pandemic that limits face-to-face and actual training on the water, they stayed in competitive form,” ani PRA president Patrick “Pato” Gregorio.
