“We’re prepared.”
Ito ang isinagawang pahayag ni Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Cesar Chiong, kaugbay sa pagdagasa ng mga pasahero sa NAIA terminals ngayong Holy Week.
Ayon kay Chiong, ginawang aktibo ang ‘Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa dahil sa inaasahang 1.2 milyon na pasahero ang bubuhos sa apat na terminal sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) dahil sa sampung araw na period simula nitong Palm Sunday.
“With the upcoming holidays lasting until the Day of Valor on April 10 and border restrictions lifted globally since the COVID-19 pandemic, passenger traffic could reach 140,000 on a single day,” saad ni Chiong.
Kaugnay nito, tiniyak ni Chiong na ang MIAA ay may sapat na manpower at kagamitan para sa pagdagsa ng pasahero, gayundin ang pagkakaroon ng critical airport utilities, tulad ng elektrisidad, tubig, air conditioning at communications; amenities at “malasakit” kits para sa mga pasahero kung sakaling magkaaberya ang mga flight; at assistance desks sa lahat ng apat na paliparan upang tugunan ang concern ng mga biyahero.
“We are doing all of these initiatives in order to give our riding public a seamless travel experience here at NAIA, especially since this is the first time that we’ll have quite a long Semana Santa after 2019,” saad ni Chiong sa isang press conference kasama si Senior Assistant General Manager Bryan Co.
“One of the critical things we’re doing is talking to our government partners because it’s not just MIAA; there are more than 20 different government agencies working with us. Among the most important right now, which we see as a critical battleground in terms of managing the queues and the experience, is (the Bureau of) Immigration (BI), as well as our final security points under the Office for Transportation Security (OTS),” ayon naman kay Co.
