Nakatanggap si Pinoy boxer Jerwin Ancajas ng commendation mula sa Philippine Navy. Ito’y nang matapos ng kanyang successul title defense kamakailan sa Connecticut.
Pinarangalan si Ancajas ng “Gawad sa Kaunlaran’. Ito ang second highest award na ibinibigay ng Armed orces of the Philippines (AFP).
Ang gawad ay personal na ibinigay sa boxer sa Navy headquarters ni Rear Admiral Dorvin Legaspi. Si Legaspi ang current Nava; Reserve Command commander.
Si Ancajas ay isang Navy reservist na may ranggong senior chief pettty officer.
“I see in this fine navy reservist his dedication and commitment in boxing as he brought honor and pride to the country, the AFP, the Philippine Navy, and the Naval Reserve Command in particular for being a member of the navy reserve force,” ani Legaspi sa isang speech.
Naging impresibo ang boxing return ni Jerwin nang talunin si Jonathan Rodriguez. Kaya naman, napanatili nito ang IBF Junior bantamweight title.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Panginoon sa binigay na pagkakataon na makapagsilbi sa ating bayan at sa Philippine Navy.”
“Sobrang masaya po ako na mabigyan ng karangalan sa Philippine Navy,” ani Ancajas.
