TINUTULAN ni Senator Imee Marcos ang panukalang pagbuhay sa e-sabong sa bansa at ang planong huwag isama sa mga isasara ang 12 Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) companies.
“I was really surprised. E-sabong is gone. Pogo is gone, and suddenly there’s remote sabong again. We need to stop this,” ayon sa senador.
Nilinaw rin niya siya tutol sa gambling dahil kumikita naman ang gobyerno rito.
“The problem is, just like with e-sabong, we can’t regulate this Pogo properly,” paliwanag niya. “We can’t monitor, supervise, or apprehend them. If we can’t handle it and it will only cause headaches with all the syndicates and numerous crimes involved, then we should put a stop to it for now.”
“I heard that Pogo now goes by a different name, IGL (Internet Gaming Licensee). And there are claims that we should rescue the 12 biggest ones first because 42,000 jobs will be lost.” “There are so many reasons. Just follow the President. He said during the Sona (State of the Nation Address) to stop it,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa kanyang ikatlong SONA noong nakaraang buwan, ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr ang pag-ban sa lahat ng POGO sa bansa.
Gayunpaman, inimungkahi ng Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) na huwag isana ang 12 POGOs sa nationwide ban.
Sa pagdinig ng House committee on appropriations sa panukalang budget ng POGO para sa 2025, tinanong ni OFW party-list Rep Marissa Magsino si PAGCOR Chiar Alejandro Tengco, kung may posibilidad nag awing legal ang e-sabong upang tulungan ang ahensiya na patuloy na kumita matapos ipagbawal ang POGO.
Ipinagbawal ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang e-sabong noong Mayo 2022 matapos ang pagkawala ng 30 sabungero na sangkot dito.
