PUERTO PRINCESA – Maningning na tinapos ng Pilipinas ang kampanya nito sa ICF Dragon Boat World Championships sa pampinaleng tunggalian sa tubigan dito sa Baywalk ng lungsod upang tanghaling kampeon pangkalahatan kahapon.
Dumagdag ng dalawa pang ginto, apat na silver at isang bronze ang Pinoy paddlers upang mangibabaw sa overall tally na 11 gold, 20 silver at 16 bronzes.
Ang karibal na Southeast Asian powerhouse na Thailand ang tinanghal na runner-up sa kanilang eight golds habang ang AIN ( Individual Neutral Athletes) squad (Russians)ang tersera sa kanilang six golds, three silvers at three bronzes sa torneong suportado ng Philippine Sports Commission, Tingub Party List, Lacoste watches sa agapay ng Puerto Princesa government sa pamumuno ni Mayor Lucilo Bayron.
“We practically made history every day so I am very proud of our national paddlers and how we organized this big event sanctioned by the International Canoe Federation,” pahayag ni PCKDF president Leonora “Len” Escollante.
“So I am very glad that our staging of this world championships yielded the main goal that our national team was aiming for by clinching the overall title right here on our shores at that”ani pa Escollante
“This was truly a world-class you have in Puerto Princesa and all we got was positive feedback from the countries who took part in the ICF Dragon Boat World Championships,” papuri naman ni ICF Dragon Boat Commission chairman Dr. Wai Hung-Luk ng Hongkong.
“The participants were also impressed by the warm hospitality shown by the Palaweños and expressed their desire to come back again here,” he said.
